Well its that time of year, the sun is shining and Pidley Mountain Rescue Team have another event where you can meet Pidley Ted, find out exactly what we do, and how we might be able to help you.
But its not just one event, oh no! Pidley is having its Village Family Fun Day too, so there will be lots of fun things to do outside as well what could be better TWO events in one!
Let’s hope the sun continues to shine to make Saturday 11th July a fabulous day to be outside because there will be a Bouncy Castle, coconut shy, Vintage Cars to admire, Family Races and of course a BBQ – to name just a few of the fun things lined up – as well as the opportunity to have a cuddle with Pidley Ted.
We hope to see you there next Saturday July 11th.
See pidleymountainrescue.org.uk for more details
The County Council are working closely with the event organisers to ensure that clear information is being provided to Parishes, residents and road users. We have been working closely with local member, Cllr McGuire, to ensure that all parts of the local community have the opportunity to understand how the event is likely to impact them over the course of the weekend, so that they may plan accordingly. The aim of these documents is to provide answers to some common questions, give clarity around the road closures and assist people with their arrangements for the day.
Alongside these documents, we are also making use of social media (Cambridgeshire Highways Twitter feed), messages on the variable message signs, information bulletins on the radio in conjunction with the BBC and road closure signs on the route.
Please feel free to share the attached information with your local communities, and should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact the County Council on 01223 507176 and firstname.lastname@example.org
A first of its kind event to be held in Cambridgeshire is targeting young and pre-drivers to help improve their skills and reduce accidents on the County’s roads.
The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Road Safety Partnership is hosting the ‘Young Driver Event’ on the 24 and 25 June 2015 at Huntingdon Racecourse.
In 2014, 87 young people aged between 16 and 25 were killed or seriously injured on Cambridgeshire and Peterborough roads.
The event is the first of its kind in the county and Students will be able to access a wide range of information about driving from partner agencies and the wider motoring industry.
Lyn Hesse Road Safety Officer said “The tragic loss of a young life has a completely devastating effect on family and friends. Anything we can do to improve the knowledge and skills of this ‘at risk’ group has to be beneficial”.
The event is free to all young drivers/riders including those who are planning to drive or ride.
All sixth form colleges have been invited and so far over 600 students have signed up to attend.
Days are being split into morning and afternoon sessions 10 -12noon and 1pm – 3pm.
If you are a member of staff at a sixth form college, or a young person aged between 16-18 and would like more information or to book a place to attend please contact Lyn.email@example.com Tel 01223 699499
Two years ago the RAF Wyton Area Band came to Kings Ripton for a memorable musical evening. They’ll be back again this midsummer, on 20 June, and everyone is welcome. They’ll be playing in the Manor Farm barn near the junction with the A1090, just a short walk for Kings Riptons residents and a short drive from Abbots Ripton.
The evening starts at 6.30 with a buffet meal. A bargain £12.50 covers food and music. If you fancy a drink, please bring your own. It’s organised by Kings Ripton Village Hall and some of any surplus made will help pay for refurbishment of the hall kitchen.
Tickets are available from Jean Bassitt (01487 773093) or Elspeth Krause (01487 773120)
The band’s last visit was a roaring success, so do come along and join the fun this time.
A Burns night will be held in Abbots Ripton Village Hall on Saturday 08 February 2014 at 7pm for 7.30pm.
There will be a 3 course meal plus Whiskey on the table.
Cost is £15
